About The Cake Artist

As a graduate of the Art Institute of Boston at Leslie University, owner and cake designer Melissa Mason took her
illustration degree and combined it with her love for sweets. Growing up in a big family, she always loved to help
her grandmother bake and decorate desserts for all of the family events and holidays. Melissa first learned the basics in
professional decorating at her very first job at the age of 16 at a commercial bakery and has been doing it ever since.
The first cake class she took was at Lorraine's, Inc. in Hanover, MA back in 1999, earned a certificate in Australian
Stringwork in a class taught by Toba Garrett and learned how to make beautiful gumpaste flowers from Nicholas Lodge.
Melissa's passion for decorating helped her decide to share it with others and she became a Wilton Method Instructor
in 2005 at a local Michaels' Arts & Crafts store. You can find some of her designs in popular cake decorating magazines
and she's proud to say she placed 3rd in her first ever cake competition judged by Toba Garrett and 2nd in a cake
competition in Springfield, MA.

Now with over 15 years of experience and over 300 students, Sweet Melissa's Cakes is
pleased to offer her unique cake designs and elegant sweets to You!

Melissa is a proud member of ICES, the International Cake Exploration Society, www.massices.com
